Welcome to Day 1 of our honeymoon! Today is a pretty easy day. We fly from Boise to Denver and then on to Orlando. When we arrived, we grabbed our bags and headed for the Disney Magical Express. Kim was impressed by how orderly and friendly the staff were. I told her that’s the Disney secret – customer service and she could look forward to exemplary service during our entire stay. You get what you pay for. Onward!
A short pleasant bus ride later we were at the Disney Caribbean Beach Resort. The views and the staff were lovely. The room was a pretty basic amenity, but neither of us was too high on paying for something we weren’t going to use much. We’re here to totally rock the parks! We hit Downtown Disney for some sight seeing and dinner. Boy has this place gotten HUGE since I was here last (which admittedly was 17 years ago). We had a lovely dinner at Portobello, an Italian restaurant in Downtown Disney. We both quickly realized that getting the all-inclusive package was a smart plan. The meals were included, the transportation was included, the room was included which left us with very little to worry about so we could focus on having fun!

- We stayed at the Caribbean Beach Resort while at Disney World. It’s a pretty location with basic motel amenities which is fine by us because we don’t plan on spending much time in our room.
- Here’s a view of the main cafeteria/shopping area on the resort across the pond from where our room is.
- It was a bit of a walk to get to breakfast in the morning, but the bus stop to the parks was right by our room. So that was convenient.
- We arrived too late today to do any park hopping so we went and visited Downtown Disney instead. Check out the giant Lego serpent in the water!
- There were some pretty cool Lego sculptures around the giant Lego store in Downtown Disney. Of course I had to go in there and check it out. Legos rock.
- Here I am posing with more Lego statues. The prices aren’t any cheaper in this store than anywhere else, but the selection… whoa…
- It’s Kim with Lego Woody!
- We had a lovely dinner in the Portobello restaurant in Downtown Disney. We bought the meal pass for our trip so everything but the wine and tip was already covered, which was quite a relief when we saw the prices on the menu! Good dinner though. Great service.
- It was dark by the time we left dinner. Downtown Disney is quite a bit bigger than I remember it from years ago. Progress…
- I remember insisting that my mother take me here when I first visited Disney world. Of course, it’s overpriced and the food is mediocre, so we skipped it this time around.
After dinner, we walked around and checked out the nightlife. There were some local bands and performers out and about so we enjoyed the free entertainment. Afterwards it was back to our room for a good nights sleep as tomorrow is going to be go go go!! See you then!
